Solo Circumnavigation via the Great Capes - Presentation and Q & A with Bob Williams

Event information

This event has passed.

Bob Williams, a long term RANSA member and ex Commodore, has recently completed an amazing feat: a solo unassisted non-stop circumnavigation of the globe via the Great Capes on Sylph VI.  Built in 1960, Sylph VI was designed by well-known Australian naval architect Allan Payne.

This is Bob’s second circumnavigation aboard Sylph VI, beating his previous circumnavigation record! Departing on the 14th December 2021, he completed the circumnavigation on 24th June, 2022.

A quote from Bob’s blog (http://blog.mailasail.com/sylph):

"At 0642 I noted in the log, “Crossed outbound track. Circumnavigation complete.  We had made it. 193 days of sailing but it feels like we only left yesterday.”

Join us at RANSA on the 2nd of June at 6 PM to enjoy a drink from the bar and a presentation from Bob about the trials and tribulations of his inspirational journey!
