Commodores Christmas Message 2022

Published Fri 16 Dec 2022

Our new team of Flag officers have been active, especially Rear Commodore Matt Bryant, with lots of support from mainstay volunteers organising events. In addition, installing an impressive new conferencing system in the Rushcutter Room, and an air conditioner in the Whaler Bar are among many other improvements for Members. Thanks, Matt, for your great work.

Vice Commodore David Jordan is reviewing dinghy facilities and several other projects with the sailing team. New Director Kate O’Connell is among other things assisting Dave Giddings with the archives project. Overall, with lots of Club initiatives and activities with the support of our many RANSA mainstay volunteers, all augurs well for 2023.

A note about Navy Bear, who experienced some industry wide staff issues, and most would be aware the café had to close for a week. It was great to see proprietors Adam and Emma Marshall  hands on cooking and serving to ensure the twilight catering continued as they reorganised staff -and Adam still had time to sail their classic 5.5 metre, Rhythm, to a twilight victory.

And finally, to our Staff Roger and Nick, rock solid as always in ensuring the club Sailing activities and House Member services are always functioning well for members.

We congratulate the RPEYC on reaching their Centenary and inviting yachts from all parts in their celebrations. The 100-year Wednesday race, with 105 yachts, was a very special time on Sydney Harbour. While RANSA run the Winter Wednesdays series, few will forget the RPEYC 100 year race,In crazy weather conditions varying from strong gusts, hail stones and lighter breezes, it all raised the spirits for some great post-race celebrations.

Congratulations to SASC on reaching their 150 years anniversary with an absolutely amazing celebration, and all adds to the history and wonderful sailing spirit on Sydney Harbour.

We now look forward to the RANSA 2023 sailing season, and in particular the RANSA Regatta on 12th February 2023. We encourage all our Member yachts to join the challenge with other Sydney Harbour clubs to compete for the famous RANSA Admirals Trophy.

Once again on behalf the voluntary Flag Officers, Directors, and Staff we wish all our Members

a Healthy and Merry Christmas and a Safe and Happy New Year.

Bill
